Search Engine : is a website that allows a user to search Web for a particular keywords. Search Engines can be robot or human based. Major Search Engines are Google, Bing and Yahoo. Since Google has 60% share of all the searches performed most of the optimization work is done towards this Search Engine.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) :can refer to either both Organic Search Engine Optimization along with Pay Per Click Campaigns or solely to Pay Per Click Campaigns.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) : is a type of marketing campaign with an aim of a website to rank high in Search Engine Results for a particular keyword. SEO is divided into on-page and off-page. Off-page SEO techniques are the most important in achieving successful result.
Search Engine Results Page (SERP’s) :also known as results page a collection of ranked website listings.
Search Terms:also known as keywords refers to the words user uses to search for a particular item or a question.
SEO Copywriting:writing and formating content in a way that helps Search Engines to identify the content as relevant and rank it high for a particular keyword. Copywriting is also used to create a compelling ad copy that will “convert” visitors and for content marketing to other websites.
Sitemap: a special page that can be used to help Search Engines to crawl the website deeper.
Social Media: websites like Facebook that allow users to interact with each other and to create their own content
Social Media Optimization (SMO): a marketing campaign with an aim of establishing a brand on relevant Social Media Channels. Typically successful SMO campaign is a result of great content, conversation with users and key influencers. While calculating ROI on SMO campaign is not as straight forward for a lot of businesses presence in Social Media is a necessity due to customer service issues.
Spider: also known as crawler or a robot. It is Search Engine’s program that analyses websites and collects data for Search Engines.
Splog: spam blog typically consistent of a generic or automatic content for the purpose of generating low quality links.
SSI: Server Side Includes protocol that allows to call portions of other webpages inside the current one.
